The multiplayer map Thin Ice is a large vehicle focused map set in the snowy Sierra mountains. While the shape of the map as a whole was primarily designed for vehicle flow the five main points of interest were designed to support infantry as well as vehicle combat. Infantry paths link the points of interest cutting across the vehicle roads creating a good mixture of open and covered paths. For Thin Ice the five points of interest include a crashed plane, an abandoned bunker, a junkyard full of old airplanes and tanks, barracks, and an abandoned log cabin.
- Developed initial map concept creating a design document
- Blocked out the initial design in EA's proprietary game engine Frostbite
- Iterated on map design based on feedback and testing, taking the map from block to a polished shippable level
- Implemented all scripting for game modes including spawn points and objectives
- Maintained all scripting through the maps development process
